Cock-a-*Doodle*-do!

Throughout time, chickens have been the inspiration for artistic endevours and this is a tradition that we wish to continue. Chicken Coop artist, Ben Frimet, has created a number of chicken works for the populace, exhibiting them in butchers shops and laundrettes. His work also takes him into schools: you can view their artwork here.

Below are links to some of the rest of the team's doodles (artwork, poetry and digital media). If you (or your children!) have any chicken-related art that you would like to share with the world, send it to us and we'll upload it.

  • The Lay of Gunter Golden-hair - Nina Crummy's poetic tribute to 'Gunter the Magnificent': the singular cockerel, who was also the inspiration for an article by Sykes (2012). His skeleton (the photograph to the top right) is now accessioned in the University of Nottingham's osteology reference collection.

  • Fans of Gunter can see his last live performance here

  • Before Chicken Coop there was... Chicken.net - the details accompanying the animation became out-of-date very quickly but the animation is still good.
